Black History month is upon us. From Slum Village, to A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Common, Frank N Dank, Dwele, Jaylib & work with countless others, James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J. Dilla was a big part of altering the trajectory of Hip-Hop production [& beyond, ultimately]. His physical rose & set in the month of February [2/7/74 – 2/10/06], so in 2009 Stones Throw Records dubbed it ‘J Dilla Month’, as his musical contributions continue to ripple forward through time.
